Access Tokens

Access tokens are API credentials that grant permission to access protected resources on a website or web application. They serve as a form of authentication, allowing authorized users or applications to interact with specific functionalities or data within the system.

When a user logs into a website or application, the authentication process typically generates an access token. This token is then used to validate subsequent requests made by the user. By presenting the access token with each request, the server can verify the user's identity and determine the level of access they have.

You will want to give your developers an access token for your Insights account. You might also need to delete an access token, or make sure one is till active. To do that, follow the steps below.

Add Access Token

First, navigate to the Access Tokens page

Then click Generate Token

This will generate a pop-up screen. Enter the name of the token. Then press Generate Token.

You can then copy that access code and send it to the person you want to have access.

Active Token

You can see if a certain token is active by going to the Access tokens page and seeing if that token is toggled to active.

If you want to make it inactive, just click the toggle until it is greyed out.

Delete Token

You can delete a certain token by going to the Access Tokens page and clicking the trash icon o the right of the token you wish to delete.

It will immediately delete the token, so be sure you want to delete it before clicking on the trash icon.
