With Volt, customers can register three types of phone numbers: Toll-Free, 10-digit Long Code (DLC), and Short Code.
Short Codes are five-digit or six-digit codes and are the only numbers that are reviewed by carriers before they're allowed to be registered. Because these codes involve all of the carriers to review your website, use case, message copy, etc. this process can take anywhere from 6-8 weeks, but the benefits are worth the wait! This increases your reach, gives you a recognizable number to improve brand awareness, and saves you money as these numbers decrease your spam rates.
Increase Reach
Short Code messages can be delivered up to 10 times faster than other SMS options, making them ideal for bulk messaging. They also allow you to send more messages per second than long codes.
Improve Brand Awareness
Because the number is only five digits, this makes them easy to remember. This increases the chances that consumers will open, read, and act on them more than other communications.
Saves You Money
To obtain a short code, businesses must undergo a review process by the phone carrier. This review ensures that businesses meet industry guidelines and standards. This review significantly increases the deliverability of your text so that you don't spend money on texts that ends up in spam.
How Volt Can Help
The great thing about Volt is that we will help you register for a short code. We'll need you to complete some paperwork, and then we'll take it from there! If you would like to get started, you can contact your Customer Success Manager or email [email protected].
How Long Does Registration Take?
Registration can vary in length. Typically, it can take anywhere between 6-8 weeks. The length of time is because phone carriers review everything manually. However, with Volt, we will handle all updates for you, so once everything is submitted, you can sit back and relax.
